Tofu marinade bowl, hacking and vegan mofo

Have I told you I am planning to do Vegan MoFo next month?  No.  Oh dear!  I meant to but am running way behind.  I haven't been posting much this month as I have been working hard on preparing for Vegan MoFo so I can get through a month of intense blogging.  But before we reach September, let me share tonight's dinner and wail about my blog being hacked yet again!

I actually was busy today trying to make a few things for Vegan MoFo but tonight's dinner is an idea rather than a recipe so it seems a good one to share on a chatty post.  E got some Gorgeous George marinade from the Coburg Farmers Market a few weeks ago so tonight I got around to slathering it over tofu and frying it.  Then I cooked both basmati rice and black rice.  I fried up some onion, garlic, carrot corn and cooked some kale.  I served the bowl with a bit of ponzu sauce.  It was excellent.

However let me tell you my cunning plan.  Regular readers will know I love leftovers.  I even plan for them.  It's the only way to save my sanity on busy weeks.  So tomorrow night I have leftover rice and leftover carrot and corn mixture to make a fried rice.

And this week is a busy one, as usual.  Today we had an electrician in during the morning replacing our switchboard.  I figured that if a child said the switchboard looks like a castle it is time to upgrade.  This photo was taken by E to send to the electrician and then I forgot to take another one in daylight.  But you can see it had plenty of character!

Meanwhile I have been freaking out a little about Vegan MoFo because on Sunday I had my blog hacked for the second time in a month.  I am cranky at these people who find it fun to hack into and take over a domain name of someone who had put years of work and living into it.  I regularly refer back to my blog so I value it as my notebook.  And then because of someone with no ethics or empathy I spend my Sunday night reading up to fix it.  Sure, it was my fault that I had some third party gadget on my right hand menu from years ago that seems to have been the weak point they had attacked.

But I am worried it will keep happening.  I have never paid for third parties to do any work on my blog so it is all the work of an amateur without a great deal of website know how - I am more a content person than a tehnical person.  So I am feeling wary of the big world wide web and the nasty folk lurking.

I went to the Pandora back up of my blog that I have been proud of and found quite useful.  This National Library of Australia service regularly backs up websites of significance.  Now I don't think my blog is that important but it was annoying to see the 4 of the 7 back ups on the Pandora system have been hacked.  And when I pointed it out they just took down these back ups so now the back ups of my blog on Pandora are not complete (as they don't do complete back ups when they do a new one).  Argh1

So I hope you understand I need chocolate with crisps to make it all better.  (Well it was worth a try!  The chocolate with Kettle chips was very delicious and moreish but it does not give more hours in the day!)  I think this will be the last blog post of August so will be the last dairy-laden item to be on my blog until October.  Despite finding it hard to find time, I do love the inspiration I have always found in Vegan MoFo to try new things and have fun with cooking.  I have some fun recipes lined up for next month and will look foward to sharing them.

And now I need to think about packing to go away at the end of the week.  And scheduling a post or two for when I am away.

  1. Your bowl looks so fresh and inviting. I replaced my power board when I bought my apartment as my electrician said I had to if I wanted more outlets. I bought both those chocolates too and have scoffed the CCS one. Good luck with vegan MoFo!

    1. Thanks Cakelaw - we have been told we have a smaller power outlet than more modern homes (ours is 1960s) but I was relieve to hear the wiring seems to be in good nick. I prefer the kettle chips to the CCs but they are just terribly moreish.

  2. Ah, I'm sorry you continue to have hacking problems! Are you aware that you can also back up your blog yourself? These old instructions of ours are a bit out of date, I think you can now do it as...
    Settings>Other>Back up Content.
It won't save your past issues, but might help going forward.

Looking forward to your VeganMoFo content!

    1. Thanks Cindy - the backing up blogger blogs is really helpful and I am grateful for your post years ago - however that even caused me frustration with the hacking as it looked like it wouldn't save but when I googled it I found it was because MS Word was no longer reading the file without a few steps - in the Open dialogue box there is a drop down list at the bottom right that you select Recover Text and click ok or yes and this makes it easier to open!

  3. Happily, I missed seeing the hack - what do you they do? Take the site down or cover it with spam? How frustrating. I'm glad you were able to get things working again. Grrr! I'm pleased to hear you're doing MoFo - that means more posts to read. The best part of MoFo is the opportunity to binge read blogs!

    1. Thanks Joey - I am glad you weren't annoyed by the hack. When you opened my blog it looked like all normal and then would redirect to the widgetserver.com site which is very ugly and grey as well as not-my-site. So now when I open my site I still hold my breath and hope it stays and does not redirect. I hope I will have time to read some mofo blogs too as I love seeing who is out there and connecting with new people and well as lots of great posts from fave sites

  4. Oh no, that's annoying about your blog being hacked again. It must be very disheartening. Good luck with vegan mofo!

  6. Hi Johanna, I came by the first and second time you were hacked, but I felt confident the second time that you would resolve it as you had the first. But like you it angers me, its not like our blogs are high traffic and paid, its a hobby and some asshole to do this is so disheartening. I don't know what I would do as I do not have the confidence with IT with the simplest of thing. I do hope that this is the end of hacking for you. Also you are usually the one who reminds me about VeganMofo and I join in, but to be truthful my blogging is a bit erratic at the moment and I am not organised to do themes of anything, so will enjoy your blog post as well as other bloggers. The kettle choc intrigues me.

  7. How awful about the repeated hacking. It's hard to understand why anyone would find it rewarding to hack a site that is for someone's own use. I'm glad you could fix it but you have made me realise how vulnerable I'd be if a similar thing were to happen to my site.

Those chocolate blocks are a little bit mind blowing (in good and bad ways!) and your switchboard is wonderful, although I appreciate not very practical and worthy of an upgrade.

Thanks for dropping by. I love hearing from you. Please share your thoughts and questions. Annoyingly the spammers are bombarding me so I have turned on the pesky captcha code (refresh to find an easy one if you don't like the first one)
