Actually Scotland has a town called Elgin which confused me because it has a hard 'g' and our Elgin St has a soft 'g' (which e thinks is unaccountably strange)

thanks Deb - I didn't realise you live on an island - must be so different to city living - no wonder you have all that garden. I think the longer you know a place the more changes you notice! (and yes it is hard to remember your camera - it is quite a while since I have taken mine out with me)

thanks VBT - not sure where you are but if you have a chance to visit I'd recommend it

Thanks Cindy - I am shocked you haven't been there (because you and Michael have been to so many places, especially in this area!) - but I understand if you have not been drawn in becuse it is such a poky little place it doesn't grab your attention - when you go I will look forward to hearing what you think!Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-75384768043844227572008-02-22T19:30:00.000+11:002008-02-22T19:30:00.000+11:00Lygon St's been my home for less than two years - ...Lygon St's been my home for less than two years - thanks for sharing some of its (recent) history with me. I have the same kinds of memories of a few neighbourhoods in Brisbane!

I must stroll down to Vina Bar soon - would you believe we still haven't been there?Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-28471641106877977252008-02-22T17:24:00.000+11:002008-02-22T17:24:00.000+11:00What a great find - I wish I could visit... sounds...What a great find - I wish I could visit... sounds lovely!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-866054095155020782008-02-22T09:15:00.000+11:002008-02-22T09:15:00.000+11:00Amazing how, as my hubby says, "nothing stays the ...Amazing how, as my hubby says, "nothing stays the same".
Even here on this 2 mile by 4 mile island I call home, places are always changing. Thank you for sharing your area and that dinner looks great! A new Thai restaurant just opened up around the corner from us and that dish reminds me that I need to check it out. I never remember to take my camera. I must make a note of that!winedebhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16891313852429967357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-81153299106299623702008-02-22T00:34:00.000+11:002008-02-22T00:34:00.000+11:00Thanks for the lovely stroll along Lygon Street. You've made me nostalgic for the U of T campus--I think I'll go take a look next time I'm in town! It's also fascinating to me how certain names seem to transcend oceans; Toronto has a revue cinema called the Carlton as well, and an Elgin Street. And that dish does look appetizing!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
