I have noticed that what I used to think of as jap pumpkins are more often called kent pumpkins now. And thanks for the advice on the dough hooks - I may try them with a really soft dough but I suspect you are right - they wont have too much power for a stiff doughJohanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-79318777234519241032013-05-05T07:11:40.331+10:002013-05-05T07:11:40.331+10:00Haha love seeing your dish rack- exactly like ours...Haha love seeing your dish rack- exactly like ours!!! The rhubarb looks so delicious and rosy, and I've always known those pumpkins as Jap pumpkins - is the kent a variation, or something completely different? I'd be hesitant to try mixing dough with your new beater - I find even my Kenwood stand mixer struggles with it - and yes, I can see the monkey! :) xceliahttp://www.figjamandlimecordial.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-17243522108487183882013-05-04T23:14:10.106+10:002013-05-04T23:14:10.106+10:00Thanks Lorraine - I am very jealous of your two so...Thanks Lorraine - I am very jealous of your two sourdough doughs in the fridge - am sure you could press any seeds into them - the pepitas do look great!Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-8644289505365471592013-05-04T23:13:16.582+10:002013-05-04T23:13:16.582+10:00Thanks Kari - I have bought a whole kent pumpkin o...Thanks Kari - I have bought a whole kent pumpkin on a few occasions before - it feels very decadent to have a whole pumpkin - so many possibilities. Will let you know if the dough hook is a raging success but will be surprised if that is the case and I suspect I might just forget about them and find them years from now and wonder what they are :-)Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-76330091097133015532013-05-04T23:11:48.078+10:002013-05-04T23:11:48.078+10:00Thanks Ale - had lemon and sugar on pancakes this ...Thanks Ale - had lemon and sugar on pancakes this morning - quite fancy apple crumble or even apple spongeJohanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-12679370131485249392013-05-04T23:11:02.595+10:002013-05-04T23:11:02.595+10:00Thanks Louise - sounds quite reasonable to think w...Thanks Louise - sounds quite reasonable to think with your stomach :-)<br />Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-29010844758183968612013-05-04T17:36:15.927+10:002013-05-04T17:36:15.927+10:00AS a recent baker of sourdough, I'm rather smi...AS a recent baker of sourdough, I'm rather smitten by that pumpkin loaf! Your whole pumpkin is impressive - like you, I have only ever bought the Kent variety in wedges - and I sympathise with your beaters going down an unpredictable route. I used my old set with one beater for a very long period of time, and then they only worked on the low setting, and in the end I bought new ones - also for the grand price of $24 I think! I'll be interested to hear if your dough hook does function well enough for bread.Karihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15887621874869110597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-2972794384390372512013-05-04T09:40:01.953+10:002013-05-04T09:40:01.953+10:00Lovely pics!
