I'm sure the germ substitution was delicious.

I've used prune puree in some recipes and have found it good, but I do notice the taste when I use it (not that it's a bad taste--I like prunes--but I don't always want to notice them in a recipe). Over here, sometimes prune baby food is called for as a way to avoid having to soak and puree them by yourself. I haven't tried it, but don't see why it wouldn't work!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-14268697868592013692008-02-08T11:01:00.000+11:002008-02-08T11:01:00.000+11:00wow, those do look great, and actually quite inter...wow, those do look great, and actually quite interesting too Johanna:)Mansihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01109414198476017680noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-60756233321270833962008-02-08T07:58:00.000+11:002008-02-08T07:58:00.000+11:00This is a unique muffin idea. Very moist and moreish - but I can't work out why anyone needs to sweeten prunes!

thanks Kathryn - I was thinking maybe dried prunes soaked in some boiling water for 15 minutes might make a far better puree than sweetened prunes. And I love molasses in baking, although a little goes a long way.Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-88435326233868061432008-02-07T10:27:00.000+11:002008-02-07T10:27:00.000+11:00Germ muffins - brilliant. I haven't used molasses much in baking, so good to hear that went well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-14862511916143282332008-02-06T23:01:00.000+11:002008-02-06T23:01:00.000+11:00Good looking muffins! Good idea to reduce the sugar content instead. :)Wendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07157804056370219398noreply@blogger.com
