I just used dried dates too rather than fresh and hope to make the ginger sponge cake on the same page

Thanks Ashley - am really into scones right now

Thanks Lysy - it is strange to revisit childhood books especially when they look so different - and E and I have different childhood memories - was surprised he had not encountered any of these books in his childhood

Thanks Katie - hope you have a lovely lentil loaf lunch (just having fun with alliteration) :-)Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-2385819025229502372009-09-02T05:21:37.514+10:002009-09-02T05:21:37.514+10:00Wow your scones rose perfectly. Or they're about poo (have you read The Mole who Knew is was None of his Business?). But it's lovely that Sylvia will be able to read the same books that you read as a child.

I really like the idea of dates in scones, and the lentil loaf sounds very good too. I tend to use seeds instead of nuts as a filler and I like the extra crunch you get from them.Lysyhttp://www.munchkinmail.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-29371701241430775232009-09-02T00:31:00.286+10:002009-09-02T00:31:00.286+10:00Mmm I can never turn down a scone!Mmm I can never turn down a scone!eatme_delicioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14657772782487330009noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-31598805261212996212009-09-01T22:25:07.962+10:002009-09-01T22:25:07.962+10:00I made those orange and date scones, too! The scones got stale of course, they dried out - but the moisture went into the dates! So they became all soft and luscious. I don't understand the allure - they don't taste that great to me - much prefer a home made scone!

Thanks Anh - definintely a good way to use the dates - and the loaf is quite good cold for lunch - it slices better cold!Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-52838656522834280342009-09-01T11:19:59.403+10:002009-09-01T11:19:59.403+10:00I love your posts about Sylvia! Though I was surprised they have Krispy Kreme your way--a shop opened not far from where I live, and after the first week (with lines around the block), they got less and less busy until they had to close 6 months later--a first, I am sure, for that company!Rickihttp://dietdessertndogs.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-63877664610514955252009-09-01T01:19:04.317+10:002009-09-01T01:19:04.317+10:00thats a good selection of books :)thats a good selection of books :)fleurhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08654902981574176170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6742756814967464811.post-63517314229853506662009-09-01T01:09:09.909+10:002009-09-01T01:09:09.909+10:00Just catching up on your recent posts.
